The Death of Oleg

Oleg is at home, lying on his deathbed after a long, good life as a Wisconsin farmer. Weak and breathing heavily, he smells good food cooking in the kitchen—especially his wife Sigrid's famous strudel. The smell is too tempting to resist. He struggles to his feet, makes his way to the stairs, and crawls into the kitchen. There is the strudel, cooling on the table. As he reaches for it, Sigrid hits him on the head with a wooden spoon, crying out, "That's not for you, Oleg! It's for the funeral!"
