The Impossible Wish

A Portuguese man finds a magic lamp.

A Portuguese man walking down the beach stumbles upon a rusty, dirty old lamp. Intrigued, he picks it up and rubs it, trying to read the old etchings on the side. Suddenly, a genie pops out! The genie says, “You have released me, and for that, I will grant you one wish!” (Since it’s a Portuguese genie, they usually get the short end of the stick, so he only gets one wish instead of three.) The man thinks for a moment and responds, “I’d like a highway that connects us all the way to America!” The genie, looking bothered, says, “Across the Atlantic Ocean? Are you insane? Do you have any idea how hard that is? Think of the work I’d have to put into that!” The man, taken aback, mumbles, “Oh... well, I guess I could ask for something simpler...” Suddenly, he exclaims, “I’d like to be able to understand women!” The genie sighs and asks, “Okay, how many lanes do you want on that highway?”
