Learning English

A man moves to America.

He arrives knowing zero English, so he decides to walk around and learn some phrases. He first walks into a concert hall where a woman is warming up to sing. He hears her singing, "Me, me, me, me," so he repeats, "Me, me, me, me." He's then hungry and goes to a restaurant. A small child at the next table chants, "Knife and fork! Knife and fork!" So he, of course, repeats, "Knife and fork! Knife and fork!" After his meal, he walks into a candy store. He sees a kid dancing around singing, "Goody goody gumdrops!" and so he repeats, "Goody goody gumdrops!" Feeling satisfied with what he has learned, he goes home to watch TV. The first thing he sees is an air freshener commercial that says, "Plug it in, plug it in!" As usual, the man repeats, "Plug it in, plug it in!" When he wakes up the next morning, he decides to go for a walk. The man comes upon a murder scene. The police ask who is responsible. The man sings, "Me, me, me, me!" Taken aback, the cop asks him how he did it. The man chants, "Knife and fork! Knife and fork!" The cop then puts the man in handcuffs and tells him that he is going to jail. The man replies, "Goody goody gumdrops!" The cop is slightly enraged at the man's nonchalant attitude and says to him, "You're going to fry for this!" The man then sings out, "Plug it in, plug it in!"
